Brothers Rescued from Flooded Iowa River

Two canoeists were rescued Monday from the swollen Boone River near Webster City, Iowa after they were dumped from their canoe.
In the story told, HERE, in the Webster City Daily Freeman-Journal, the two men, brothers Heber and Donald Johnson, aged 77 and 67, respectively, we spotted from shore by a passer-by who alerted authorities.
As the newspaper story explains, the two were ultimately rescued down-river from the point where they were first observed and are believed to have spent three hours in the water. One clung to debris in the river for support, the other floated in the current.
The Boone River is currently in the midst of its third-worst flood in history.
High Water … If you examine the U.S. Geological Survey’s Daily Streamflow Conditions map, HERE, you see a swath of black dots representing the flooding taking place in Iowa and southern Wisconsin. Michigan and Indiana are also experiencing flooding and water levels are high in much of the rest of the central United States.
