Gunflint Green Up Approaching

The Gunflint Green Up is right around the corner … and we don’t just mean spring-time greenery return to Northeastern-most Minnesota.
The Second Annual Gunflint Green Up, an event designed to help replant and nurture trees on the site of the 2007 Ham Lake Fire along Minnesota’s Gunflint Trail, is accepting registration for the May 1-3 event. Participants who register by noon Wednesday, can choose the area in which they’ll work.
The event isn’t all work, however. There’s a Green Living Fair and a Welcome Picnic on Friday, May 1 and a celebration of the 100th anniverary of the Superior National Forest — in which all the planting will be done — and a dance after the work-day on May 2.
Oh, and if all that work and play hasn’t worn you out, there’s a Half Marathon race on Sunday!
