Pair Paddles for The Big Wild

On the first day of June, Tony Ebdon and Chris Petrie pushed their canoe onto the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, beginning a 1,500 mile trip to Churchill, Manitoba. The pair is paddling to raise money for “The Big Wild,” an initiative to celebrate and conserve Canada’s wild and natural areas.
When the paddlers passed through Nipawin, Saskatchewan recently, the Nipawin Journal put together THIS feature on Ebdon and Petrie.
The team began its journey at Fort Edmonton and plans to end it at Fort Prince of Wales, after paddling a route made famous during the fur trade. The duo’s path follows the Saskatchewan River system across Alberta and Sasketchewan to Lake Winnipeg. From the big Manitoba Lake, the pair will paddle the Nelson River to Hudson’s Bay and then paddle north along the coast to Churchill.
