Here’s a New One: Canoe Tug-O-War
28 Apr
We’ve reported on concrete canoes, HERE, a canoe made of discarded chopsticks, HERE, and a dugout canoe made by a “tramp” in Florida, HERE. But, until now, we haven’t told you about a canoe tug-o-war.
Thanks to the folks at the Coosa River Basin Initiative in Georgia, however, canoe tug-o-war is in the news. The group used canoe and kayak tug-o-wars to raise funds and awareness at its annual Waterfest, held last weekend in Rome, Georgia.
The rules were simple enough: Four-person teams competed in canoes that were tied stern-to-stern. The team that pulled its opponent across the tug-o-war pool won. The contests continued until one team was left standing in a double elimination tournament. The winning team received a trophy and gift certificates to local restaurants.
The Rome News-Tribune published THIS photo gallery from the contest.
