Triebold, Lajoie Picking Up Where They Left Off
28 May
The paddling duo of Andy Triebold and Steve Lajoie is racing like it’s still 2008.
The team that swept last year’s North American “Triple Crown” canoe races, kicked of the 2009 season with a repeat victory last weekend at New York’s General Clinton Canoe Regatta.
The General Clinton is the first jewel of the canoe racing trifecta that also includes Michigan’s Weyerhaeuser AuSable Canoe Marathon in July and Quebec’s Classique Internationale de Canots held in September.
With Triebold, a Spring Harbor, Michigan resident, in the bow and Lajoie, of Mirabel, Quebec, in the stern, the team paddled the 70-mile General Clinton route from Cooperstown to Bainbridge in 7 hours, 22 minutes and 16 seconds. The pair won by nearly 11 minutes.
The Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin has THIS nice story on the race.
