Mississippi River Challenge this weekend
28 Jul
Explore the character of the mighty river as you paddle through three locks, both downtowns and serene backwaters. Enjoy live music from local sensation Romantica, great food provided by community vendors, and camping at Historic Fort Snelling through this fully supported paddling event. Hundreds of paddlers participated in 2010, and this year promises to be even bigger.
You can:
Canoe or kayak or paddleboard
Paddle one day or two (each day is 22 miles)
Spend the night at Historic Fort Snelling (optional)
Paddle solo or with a partner
Leave your worries behind (but not your camera!) — they take care of food, shuttling, safety support and fun! Register today!
The Mississippi River Challenge is a 2-day, 44-mile paddling event to raise money for a cleaner, healthier river. The dates for the 8th annual event are July 30th & 31st, 2011. This is the premier event for Friends of the Mississippi River and all funds raised go toward aiding the organization’s work on the Mississippi River in and around the Twin Cities.
This is a family-friendly event and not a race, for people of all ages and skill levels. Visit www.MississippiRiverChallenge.org to learn more!
