The Verlen Kruger Memorial has announced a new event for 2011 – The Tip of the Mitt Adventure 2011 is an unsupported expedition style journey for canoes, kayaks, voyageur canoes and small sailboats. The distance is roughly 150 miles for the Half-Distance Adventure and 300 miles for the Full-Distance Adventure depending on your route and course selection. There is a suggested time limit of approximately 4 days for the Half-Distance Adventure and 8 days for the Full Distance Adventure.
Verlen often set out on mini expeditions such as this to experience waters and woods that he had yet to see, and to further his understanding of his surroundings and of himself. The Tip of the Mitt Adventure is a great way to explore the beautiful wilderness of Michigan!
